How to Find a Good Weekend Job

Weekend jobs can be a good idea for a number of reasons. Even if you’re already a full-time worker or you go to school five days a week, you can still supplement your income and pick up extra experience by sacrificing some of your free time. Finding the right weekend job can be difficult, however, so look for one or more of the following kinds of work to ensure any potential employment is a good fit:

Work you’ll enjoy

If you’re already working or going to school, taking on another job will cut into the time you have to relax. Try to make up for that by picking a weekend job that will feel fun and refreshing. Only commit to as many hours as you can comfortably fit in, and consider choosing a job that will capitalize on a hobby of yours.

Work you can do from home

The Internet has created an explosion of jobs you can do from a home office. You can freelance in jobs ranging from writing to doing graphic design. In addition, freelancing or working from home also comes with very flexible hours.

Work from your friends and colleagues

The same networking techniques you use to find full-time work can help you find a good weekend job. Tell the people in your network that you’re looking to work on the weekends, and they might point you toward a good opportunity.

Work that pays well by the hour

High-paying hourly work can be tough to come by, but if you’re willing to get the right training, you can make the most of your weekend time and really rake in the dough. Do a little digging to see what might work best for you. If you have medical training, you might be surprised by how much you can make drawing blood. If your inclinations run toward finance, on the other hand, you might be able to set up a lucrative part-time bookkeeping operation.
